Althea Merback, eine amerikanische Künstlerin, deren Werke im Rahmen der "Radical Lace & Subversive Knitting"-Ausstellung des Museum of Arts and Design in New York noch bis Anfang Mai 2007 zu sehen sind. Hier ein Ausschnitt aus der Beschreibung der Ausstellung:
The work (...) is far from traditional, often radical, and sometimes socially, politically, and artistically subversive. The artists in this exhibition are experimenting with forms never before dreamed of, are using techniques in the most unorthodox and exciting ways, exploring new relationships between structure, design, color, and pattern, and using the materials and techniques to examine pressing contemporary issues that range from international politics and global problems to concerns of gender, race, and religion.
Featuring 27 artists, Radical Lace and Subversive Knitting will include objects ranging from microknit garments (1/144 scale) up to full-room, site specific installations.
Klingt interessant, aber der Weg dafür wäre mir doch etwas zu weit :)
